Reflectix Insulation Service Nationwide

Why Austin Homeowners Choose Reflectix Insulation

Reflectix service in Austin is what our crews do every week, from radiant barrier retrofits in 1970s ranches to new foil installations in homes out near the Domain. We’re an independent Reflectix service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized shop, which means we call it like we see it: Reflectix foil works well when it’s installed with the right air gap and failed seams are caught early, and it underperforms when shortcuts get taken. If you’ve got Reflectix in your Austin attic that’s sagging, torn, or peeling at the tape lines, call (361) 418-9997 and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth saving.

Most Austin attics with radiant barrier problems have one of four issues: stapled foil that’s lost its 3/4-inch air gap, tape seams that gave up in the heat, punctures from roof decking nails or HVAC boots, or bad overlaps at gable ends. None of those are mysteries to us. Glenn Hartley, our owner, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent years correcting foil installs across the Southwest. He’ll tell you the same thing he tells every Austin homeowner: the foil isn’t the problem. The installation usually is.

Why Trust Woolsey Insulation Austin for Your Reflectix Insulation?

We work on Reflectix products in Austin attics and crawl spaces daily, installing new foil, retrofitting existing radiant barriers, and fixing work other contractors got wrong. That volume matters. It means our technicians have seen every failure mode Reflectix foil can produce in Central Texas heat and humidity, and they know which fixes hold up and which ones just buy you a summer or two.

When a reflector panel needs patching, we use Reflectix brand foil and foil tape where continuity matters. When the original material is too thin for the job, we’ll say so and substitute a heavier-grade aftermarket foil. That’s the honest part: we’re not married to any one product line when a better material exists. We also won’t upsell you a radiant barrier where blown-in or spray foam insulation is the right answer. If your Austin home would be better served by open-cell foam in the roofline, we’ll tell you that instead of selling you more foil.

Every job runs under The Kingswell Guarantee: a written price before work starts, a committed arrival window, a clean job site, a written guarantee on the work, and a free return visit if the repair fails within 365 days. Glenn’s been serving Austin homeowners long enough to know that a guarantee only matters if someone picks up the phone when you call to use it. We answer live, 24/7.

Common Reflectix Insulation Problems We Fix in Austin

Reflectix foil is a good product when it’s installed right. In Austin’s attic heat, installation mistakes show up fast. Here’s what we actually see:

  • Sagging stapled radiant barrier losing its air gap. Reflectix Double Reflective Insulation needs a 3/4-inch air space on at least one side to reflect heat properly. When installers staple it tight against the roof deck or between rafters without furring strips, the air gap disappears and the foil becomes a conductor rather than a reflector. We see this constantly in older Austin homes where a previous contractor cut corners. The fix is removing the damaged sheets and reinstalling with proper spacers.
  • Taped seams peeling open in attic heat. Austin attics routinely hit 130°F to 150°F in July and August. Cheap foil tape or poorly prepped seams fail under that load. The adhesive dries out, the tape curls, and the seam opens up, creating a thermal break that lets radiant heat pour through. We see tape failure most often on north-facing roof slopes where the temperature swing is most extreme. The repair is seam-by-seam: clean, re-tape with Reflectix foil tape, and press with a roller.
  • Foil punctured by decking nails or HVAC boots. Roofers often drive decking nails from above after a radiant barrier is in place, and those nail points pierce the foil below. HVAC crews working in the attic can snag the foil with boots and duct runs. Each puncture is a small hole, but add up a few dozen across a roof deck and the barrier stops doing its job. We patch or replace the affected panel, depending on how much damage is there.
  • Improper overlap at gable ends creating air leaks. Reflectix works as a radiant barrier, but when seams at gable ends and ridge lines aren’t overlapped and taped properly, air moves through those gaps and short-circuits the whole system. In Austin’s wind-driven spring storms, those gaps also flutter the foil and tear it further. We re-overlap, tape, and secure loose edges so the barrier holds its shape.
  • Reflectix Concrete Slab Insulation trapped under a poorly drained slab. We don’t see this as often in Austin as we do in wetter climates, but when slab-edge Reflectix gets compressed by soil shifting from our clay-heavy ground, its insulating value drops. We replace damaged slab insulation and make sure the replacement has proper drainage clearance. If the slab has moisture problems, we’ll recommend addressing that before any insulation goes back in.

Reflectix Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We keep Reflectix Double Reflective Insulation, Single Reflective Insulation, Radiant Barrier, and Concrete Slab Insulation in stock for most Austin jobs, along with Reflectix foil tape and furring strips for air-gap corrections. When a repair calls for specific Reflectix part numbers, we use genuine Reflectix material. When the original foil was too light for the application, we’ll move to a heavier-grade aftermarket foil that won’t tear as easily in the next Austin hailstorm.

The repair-versus-replace call comes down to one question: how much of the existing foil is still doing its job? If the damage is isolated, maybe two or three sheets with clean edges, patching makes sense. If the barrier has failed across multiple bays or the tape is peeling everywhere, replacement costs less than chasing seams indefinitely. We’ll show you what we’re seeing and give you one honest recommendation, not a menu of upsells. Call (361) 418-9997 and we’ll put a written price in your hands before any work starts.

Our Reflectix Service Process – Step by Step

Our Reflectix service process follows the same sequence on every Austin job, whether it’s a patch or a full radiant barrier replacement. Here’s how it runs:

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the attic, measure the air gap, check tape adhesion at the seams, and look for punctures and loose edges. We document what’s failing and why. Glenn’s methodical about this step, because the diagnosis determines whether we repair or replace, and he won’t quote a fix until he’s certain of the cause.
  2. 2
Repair or installation. We remove damaged Reflectix sheets, install furring strips where air-gap spacing is missing, refit foil, and tape every seam with pressure. If we’re replacing a full radiant barrier, we work bay by bay so the attic doesn’t get torn open all at once.
  3. 3
Testing. We verify the required 3/4-inch air gap on every bay, check seam adhesion with a physical pull, and walk the roof deck to make sure nothing is loose or flapping. In summer, we measure attic temperature before and after, so you can see the difference in real numbers.
  4. 4
Warranty. Every Reflectix repair and installation gets a written guarantee under The Kingswell Guarantee. If it’s not right within 365 days, we come back and make it right, no charge. That’s in writing, on every job.

Reflectix Products We Service & Install in Austin

We service and install the full Reflectix line in Leander and Austin: Double Reflective Insulation, Single Reflective Insulation, Radiant Barrier, and Concrete Slab Insulation. Most of our work is the Double Reflective product in attic radiant barrier applications and Radiant Barrier on roof decks, but we also handle slab insulation replacement where the existing material has compressed or failed. We keep common sizes and tape stocked locally, which means most Austin service calls can be scheduled within a few days, not weeks waiting on a shipment.

We Also Service These Brands

Beyond Reflectix, our Austin crews work with Owens Corning, Johns Manville, Knauf, Rockwool, CertainTeed, Icynene, Demilec, and GreenFiber. That matters when a radiant barrier isn’t the right answer. Sometimes an Austin attic needs blown-in fiberglass or open-cell spray foam instead, and we’ll recommend the material that fits the house, not whatever happens to be on the truck.
