Meet the Austin Team Behind Woolsey Insulation Austin
Attic work in Austin comes with its own set of rules. The heat up there hits different in July, and a crew that’s been in a hundred Austin attics knows what that means for both the installers and the insulation. Our team is built around people who understand this city’s climate, its housing stock, and the difference between a job that looks fine from the hatch and one that’s actually sealed right. Glenn Hartley, our owner, has put together a crew that treats every attic like it belongs to someone they know. Because in Austin, it usually does.
Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has been running insulation crews in Central Texas for fourteen years, the last seven of them with Woolsey Insulation Austin. He’s certified in spray foam application through the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance, and he’s the guy we send when a job has an unusual roofline or an attic with tricky access. If you ask him about his work, he’ll tell you the best compliment he ever got was from a homeowner in Hyde Park who said her upstairs stopped feeling like a sauna by the following afternoon. Marcus is originally from San Antonio, spends his weekends fixing up a 1970s Airstream, and keeps a cooler of cold towels in the truck for his crew from May through September.
Dana R. – Senior Installer
Dana has been installing blown-in fiberglass and cellulose for nine years and joined the Austin team in 2019. She specializes in dense-pack applications for older homes, which matters in neighborhoods like Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights where wall cavities are rarely uniform. Dana is the person on our crew who can look at an attic floor and tell you within minutes whether the existing insulation is doing anything at all. She grew up in Elgin, knows every breakfast taco spot between here and Bastrop, and is the reason our job sites get swept, vacuumed, and checked before we call a job done.
Leo P. – Service Coordinator
Leo is the voice on the other end of (361) 418-9997 more often than not. He’s been coordinating insulation projects in Austin for six years and handles everything from scheduling to material logistics. Leo knows our eight brands – Owens Corning, Johns Manville, Knauf, Rockwool, CertainTeed, Icynene, Demilec, and GreenFiber – well enough to explain the practical differences to a homeowner without jargon. He keeps a spreadsheet of every job that’s ever needed a return visit, which is a short list, and he follows up on each one personally. Outside of work, Leo coaches a youth soccer team in Pflugerville and is trying to teach himself to smoke brisket with mixed results.
Sam W. – Apprentice Installer
Sam is the newest member of the Austin team, now in his second year of training under Marcus and Dana. He came to us from a framing crew and wanted to learn a trade where the results are quieter, which anyone who’s spent a day inside a wall cavity will understand. Sam is working toward his spray foam certification and currently leads our prep work: sealing can lights, masking vents, and protecting attic access points before the foam goes in. He’s a graduate of Akins High School in South Austin and spends his free time kayaking on Lady Bird Lake. If Sam is on your job, he’s there to learn from the best – and he carries the ladder.
One Standard, Every Job
Woolsey Insulation Austin is independently owned and operated under the Kingswell banner, which means our crew answers to one standard: the one Glenn sets. Every job gets a written price before work begins, no exceptions. Every technician who steps into your home is background-checked and in uniform, so there’s never a question about who’s walking through your door. The Kingswell Way runs through everything we do: say the price, show up in the committed window, leave the job site cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back at no charge if the work fails within 365 days. That’s the promise our team works under, and it’s the same promise you’ll see on paper before we touch your attic. Wool was the first insulation. Woolsey keeps the idea in the name, and our Austin crew keeps it on the job.
