Radiant Barriers

A radiant barrier is a coating with reflective characteristics that prevents radiant heat from entering and accumulating in the attic. Because the sun’s infrared radiation heats the roofing material, it then disperses the heat in all directions. A radiant barrier will reflect this heat outside, keeping your home cooler in the summer and thus reducing the use of your HVAC or air conditioning equipment.

Reflective insulation is a thermal barrier made of aluminized polyester or aluminum foil. Like other forms of insulation, reflective insulation helps reduce energy costs by blocking radiated heat from the sun throughout the day.

By blocking that heat buildup in your attic, reflective insulation will also substantially lower the temperature of the air surrounding your HVAC equipment and ductwork.

Radiant barriers are of great importance due to their impact in reducing the accumulation of radiant heat during long sunny days in summer. The US Department of Energy advertises that radiant barriers can potentially lower the cost of your energy bill by 5 to 10 percent in hot, sunny weather.

Energy Saver!

Beneficios del aislamiento de barrera radiante:

By blocking that heat buildup in your attic, reflective insulation will also substantially lower the temperature of the air surrounding your HVAC equipment and ductwork.

  • Provides faster heating and cooling with shorter cycle times.
  • More comfort, more precise heating and air conditioning.
  • Does not require maintenance.
  • Reduces attic temperatures, improves energy efficiency, and lowers utility costs, especially if HVAC and duct systems are located in the attic.
